While children grow and develop at their own pace, a developmental assessment can help determine if a child's development is on target. A developmental assessment assesses five areas of a child's development. These five areas include" physical, language, intellectual, social, and emotional. I also include a speech and language screening and a sensory processing screening as part of my developmental assessment.
Many children who have been exposed to substances in utero, have had a history of neglect, abuse, or trauma, or have attachment issues would likely benefit from a developmental assessment. Early intervention can often make a adramatic difference in the quality of life as the child grows and develops.
The developmental assessment is not covered by insurance. The price of a developmental assessment is $500. It takes about 2 sessions of 45 minutes each to complete teh developmental assessment.
