Anxiety
 
Yes, children can have anxiety or stress.  It is sad to see how much stress our children our placed under.  Anxiety Disorders are quite common.  However, anxiety disorders or stress in children are often overlooked or misjudged, withe many children being diagnosed as ADD/ADHD.  Other words for anxiety include: worry, stress, or concern.  Anxiety disorders include: generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, OCD, and posttraumatic stress disorder or PTSD.
 
Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety in Children 

  • A subjective sense of worry, apprehension, fear, and distress
  • Physical symptoms to include: rapid heartbeat, dizziness, difficulty breathing, upset stomach, diarrhea, or headache
 
Treatment of Anxiety

Anxiety is a very treatable condition.  I use a variety of approaches in dealing with anxiety or stress.  These approaches include: Exposure Therapy, hypnosis, or play therapy.
